Mexican Influencer Shot Dead During Livestream

César Gastélum, a TikTok influencer with over half a million followers, was shot dead in Culiacán’s northern township of Tres Ríos while livestreaming Comedy videos. He was filming from outside a fast‑food restaurant when two men on a motorbike approached and fired a weapon at close range.

The video showed Gastélum and his two friends wearing bright orange coats and bags commonly used by delivery drivers. Police initially mistook the group for a delivery crew, but quickly alerted to the victims’ identities once CCTV footage became available.

The authorities cordoned off the area and examined cartridge casings and security footage for clues. No arrests have been made yet and the two men on the motorbike fled the scene.

This murder is not the first violent act against a social‑media star in Mexico. In May 2025, 23‑year‑old Valeria Márquez was died in a beauty salon while livestreaming.

Gastélum’s Instagram posts often showcased travel, nightlife, and luxury cars, and he had previously visited the grave of fellow influencer "El Gordo Peruci” Leobardo Aispuro, who was mown down in December 2024, allegedly due to a clash between rival cartel factions.

Sinaloa’s escalating violence has been fueled by the rivalry between Los Chapitos and La Mayiza after a split in September 2024, prompting the government to deploy additional security forces.

Authorities continue their investigation while the local community mourns the loss of a popular entertainer.
