At 01:00 local time police confirmed a death and 16 injuries and later located the abandoned vehicle, which had crashed into a tree. The police have identified the suspect as a 21‑year‑old named Abdul B, known for Islamist connections, though his surname remains withheld under German law.

The suspect was seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and white trousers, and the police urge the public to come forward with information while warning not to confront him. A manhunt is underway across the city and police from surrounding states have joined the search.

The event was abruptly cancelled, with “Evacuation” projected on a large screen and attendees hastily asked to leave. Police have not released a motive, and no arrests have been made.
