Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has married his partner Jodie Haydon, becoming the country's first leader to marry while in office. The couple tied the knot in the capital, Canberra, on Saturday afternoon local time - the day after the final sitting of the parliamentary year. Albanese expressed, We are absolutely delighted to share our love and commitment to spending our future lives together, in front of our family and closest friends.

The couple became engaged on Valentine's Day last year, and both the proposal and wedding reception were held at Albanese's official residence, The Lodge. During the intimate ceremony, the couple walked down the aisle to Stevie Wonder's Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours), with their dog, Toto, acting as the ring bearer.

Plans for the wedding had been kept under wraps due to security concerns. Attendees included Haydon's parents and Albanese's son from his previous marriage. Following the ceremony, they celebrated their first dance to Frank Sinatra's The Way You Look Tonight which featured custom-made beer cans with their engagement image.

Albanese, 62, and Haydon, 47, who first met in 2020, are set to honeymoon in Australia next week, following a pared back plan after the Prime Minister's re-election in May 2022. Their relationship has been publicly celebrated, marking Albanese as the first sitting prime minister to get engaged and married while serving in office.
