Welcome to the Cake Picnic, Sydney edition. This delightful event, which has already created a buzz in cities like San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles, has landed in Australia, following a successful gathering in Melbourne that showcased over 1,600 cakes. Elisa Sunga, the founder of this whimsical concept, never imagined she would be hosting cake tours across the globe.

Two years ago, Sunga organized a simple cake gathering, only to be amazed when nearly 200 cake enthusiasts showed up, devouring over 180 cakes. This year, the Sydney event attracted more than 500 participants who displayed cakes that were no small feats of creativity.

The picnic took place at Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden, with participants showcasing cakes meeting the requirements of being at least 20 cm wide and 7.5 cm tall. Attendees shared stories, captured memories, and sampled a plethora of delicious cakes, from towering sweets to cheerful cupcakes. There was a sense of community as old friends and new faces bonded over their love for baking and cake.

As Sunga emphasized the importance of social interactions through baking, attendees echoed her sentiment, highlighting the joy derived from sharing an experience that transcends generations and backgrounds. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with laughter, and a mutual appreciation for the art of cake-making.

This whimsical gathering is a reminder of the joys of creativity, community, and sweetness amid challenging times.
