Article text: In a harrowing incident that occurred in April, the roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, collapsed, claiming the lives of 235 individuals and injuring nearly 200 more. Despite prior warnings about the roof's deteriorating condition, the club owners, Antonio Espaillat and his sister Maribel, reportedly dismissed concerns.

Gregorio Adames, the club’s reservations manager, expressed alarm over falling roof debris at 2:23 p.m., only hours before the collapse. He communicated urgent warnings to his boss, but decisions about canceling the event were stalled due to Espaillat's absence and the limited authority of his sister.

The tragedy, which occurred shortly after midnight on April 8, didn't just leave behind a somber toll of lives lost but also shattered numerous families, with 130 children left without parents. The victims, ranging from ages 17 to 71, included five individuals from the United States and others from various countries.

The Espaillats now face serious legal consequences as they are charged with involuntary manslaughter. Currently in custody, prosecutors are advocating for strict measures against them, including a no-bail request for Antonio and house arrest for Maribel, as investigations continue into the incident that has shocked the nation.
