In brief
The Thai manufacturing sector saw its purchasing managers' index rise to 54.8 in October, the highest level since December 2025, according to Xinhua. Production expanded at its fastest pace since last December, fueled by rising new orders and a growing customer base, but firms are facing backlogs as workforce capacity limits. S&P Global attributes the improvement to higher demand and successful promotional efforts, while noting workforce constraints are building unfinished order volumes.
BANGKOK, Nov. 2 – Thailand’s manufacturing sector activity improved further in October, with the purchasing managers' index (PMI) climbing to 54.8 from 54.3 in September, the highest level since December 2025, Xinhua reported.
The rise in the PMI indicates strong growth in the goods‑producing sector and an overall sharpening of operating conditions. Production expanded at the fastest pace since last December, driven by improving demand, according to Xinhua.
New orders surged as firms benefited from an expanding customer base and successful promotional efforts, S&P Global noted in a statement linked to the survey. The influx of new business inflows raised the level of unfinished orders at the strongest pace in nearly a year.
Despite the positive momentum, the report highlighted that reduced workforce capacity has led to accumulating backlogs, as more orders strain available labor resources.
India's manufacturing outlook remains optimistic but cautions about the potential strain on capacity, underscoring the need for strategic investments to sustain the sector’s growth trajectory.
