H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, met OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on 2 November 2026 in Abu Dhabi, where he watched four AI agreements signed with UAE entities across government, energy and investment sectors, signalling the emirate’s drive to become a global AI hub.
During the meeting, the Crown Prince discussed leveraging advanced AI to accelerate government transformation and innovation in Abu Dhabi’s strategic sectors, a goal aligned with the emirate’s ambition to become the world’s first fully AI‑native government.
The agreements include a landmark deal in the energy sector that makes ADNOC the first energy company to deploy OpenAI’s frontier technology, integrating AI across its operations through GPT models run on in‑country inference infrastructure.
In the government sector, Abu Dhabi Government and OpenAI launched the world’s first AI‑native Machine‑Readable Government initiative, translating policies into machine‑readable form to support AI‑powered compliance assessments.
Sam Altman said the partnership would set a bold global standard for AI integration across public and private sectors and praised the UAE’s shared commitment to safety, accessibility and responsible innovation.
"Abu Dhabi and the UAE are setting a bold, global standard for AI integration across both the public and private sectors to make sure the benefits of AI reach everyone. We are proud to support the UAE’s ambition, anchored in a shared commitment to safety, accessibility and responsible innovation."
