Xinhua reported that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by incumbent Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, captured 14 of the 15 seats in the House of Representatives in the general election held on Thursday evening, giving the party a sweeping majority and positioning Mitchell for a second term as prime minister.

According to the Parliamentary Elections Office, the new result – a landslide under Grenada’s first‑past‑the‑post system – gives the NDC the 15‑seat dominance required to secure a majority, exceeding the eight seats needed for control.

The Caribbean National Weekly described the defeat of the opposition as a “historic second consecutive election victory” for the NDC, underscoring the continuity of the party’s rule in the post‑2022 election cycle.
