The wife of the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has alleged that he was murdered by poisoning while serving a prison sentence in an Arctic penal colony in 2024.

In a video circulated on social media, Yulia Navalnaya claims that analyses of smuggled biological samples carried out by two international laboratories confirm that her husband was poisoned. She did, however, refrain from sharing specifics regarding the type of poison or the analysis process, urging the laboratories to publish their findings.

Navalny, a leading anti-corruption advocate and Russia’s most vocal opposition figure, unexpectedly died in custody on February 16, 2024, while serving a three-year sentence on what many believe were fabricated charges.

This was not the first time Navalny faced such threats; he previously survived a poisoning attempt with a Novichok nerve agent in 2020, following which he was treated in Germany. Upon returning to Russia, he was arrested.

Navalny's supporters continue to assert that the Russian government was behind his poisoning and subsequent death. Yulia stated that after Navalny's passing, his team managed to securely transfer biological samples to labs abroad, where tests confirmed poisoning.

She suggested that the laboratories were reluctant to release their results due to 'political considerations', insisting that "inconvenient truth" was being withheld.

Yulia also expressed her moral obligation to investigate her husband's death further despite potential pushback, proclaiming her husband's legacy as a beacon of hope for a brighter future in Russia.

Her appeal comes amid skepticism regarding the circumstances of Navalny's death; state authorities initially attributed it to medical conditions and sudden cardiac arrest.

The Kremlin has remained silent on Navalnaya’s accusations, but the matter continues to spark significant controversy and widespread public attention.”
