In brief

Change Floor Leader Nikolay Denkov has called on Prime Minister Rumen Radev and Armed Forces Chief Iliana Iotova to explain why the war is moving closer to Bulgaria despite acknowledging Russian aggression. Denkov cited recent drone attacks near Romania and a container‑ship strike off Cape Kaliakra and criticized the government's handling of a Sofia defence‑minister meeting, urging a shift from diplomacy to protection of Bulgarian territory. The leader demanded a timetable for peace negotiations and questioned the government’s ability to safeguard Bulgarians.

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2027, Change Floor Leader Nikolay Denkov posted on Facebook that despite Bulgaria’s recognition of Russian aggression, the war is approaching the country’s borders.

According to BTA, Denkov demanded that Prime Minister Rumen Radev and Armed Forces Chief Iliana Iotova explain why the war is inching closer to Bulgaria and asked when the government would pursue peace talks to defend national territory.

He criticised the government’s diplomatic stance after Sofia hosted a meeting of defence ministers from Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey, questioning the decisions made there and how they would safeguard Bulgarian citizens from the conflict.

In his post, Denkov quoted his question:

What decision did they take at this meeting, and how will they protect Bulgarian territory and Bulgarian citizens from the war they have allowed to reach our shores?
The question was directed to the recent trilateral meeting held earlier that day.

Denkov also highlighted two incidents: a drone attack near Romania’s coast and a container‑ship strike off Cape Kaliakra. These attacks followed a statement from Prime Minister Rumen Radev blaming Romanian forces for the drones, a claim reported only by BTA.

Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov, in the same meeting, confirmed that a container ship was hit near Shabla. The incident occurred while the defence ministers and chiefs of defence gathered to discuss security in the Black Sea region.
