British singer and songwriter FKA Twigs, real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett, and Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf have amicably settled a lawsuit stemming from abuse accusations made by Twigs in 2020. Their attorneys announced the settlement in a joint statement, emphasizing that the specifics of the agreement will remain confidential.

In previous statements, LaBeouf denied several allegations made against him but expressed remorse for the pain he caused, acknowledging a troubled history with personal relationships. This settlement concludes a prolonged legal dispute that has now lasted five years, with minimal advancement until the recent resolution.

Legal documents obtained by media outlets reveal that Twigs sought the court's dismissal of claims against LaBeouf with prejudice, preventing any future re-filing on those claims. Initially, a trial was scheduled for last year but was postponed indefinitely.

Twigs and LaBeouf first crossed paths on the set of the film "Honey Boy" in 2018 and entered a romantic relationship, which lasted for about nine months until their separation in 2019 due to busy work schedules. In her allegations, Twigs described episodes of extreme emotional and physical violence, claiming LaBeouf would wake her in the night, engage in physical confrontations, and express jealousy over her interactions with other men.

During a 2021 appearance on BBC Radio 4's "Grounded" podcast, Twigs shared her emotional struggles post-relationship, expressing feelings of intimidation and ongoing trauma that developed into post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

LaBeouf, in a past interview with The New York Times, stated that while he disputed some claims made by Barnett, he recognized his history of abusive behavior towards himself and others and accepted responsibility for his actions.

FKA Twigs has continued her artistic endeavors, releasing her latest album "Eusexua" this year and earning nominations for two Brit Awards. Meanwhile, LaBeouf recently appeared in the crime drama "Henry Johnson," adding to his extensive filmography, which includes roles in "Transformers" and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."
