In brief

Kangala Wildlife Rescue reported the heartwarming recovery of Valerie, who vanished during a camping trip in November 2022 when her owners, Georgia Gardner and Joshua Fishlock, left her briefly in a playpen. Despite the odds, including extreme weather and dangerous wildlife, she survived thanks to the dedicated rescue team. Using a scent trail made from Gardner's t-shirt led rescuers to her.

The intensive search involved volunteers working over 1,000 hours and covering more than 5,000 kilometers. High-tech traps and surveillance helped secure her capture when she was finally spotted again. Gardner expressed her relief and offered hope to others struggling with lost pets, reminding them to never give up.
