A fire at a perfume warehouse in north-western Turkey has killed six people.
The blaze broke out at 09:05 local time on Saturday in Dilovasi, as confirmed by the Kocaeli Province governorship.
Provincial Governor Ilhami Aktas stated that five individuals were hospitalized, with one in critical condition receiving treatment in a burns unit.
The fire has since been extinguished, but images shown by Turkish media revealed firefighters battling the large flames.
A witness recounted the harrowing moments, stating, I heard an explosion... I looked from my balcony and saw that the clothes of a colleague had caught fire. I took a hose and put the flames out. I then saw flames engulf the factories. There were cries from the building, as reported by local TV.
The origins of the fire in the Mimar Sinon neighbourhood of Dilovasi remain unclear. Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc has announced that a judicial investigation is underway, and the labour ministry is conducting its own inquiry.
Located about 70 kilometers (43 miles) from Istanbul, Dilovasi is an industrial town with numerous depots and factories.
