TUCSON, Ariz. — The search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of 'Today' show host Savannah Guthrie, has now entered its sixth day with no leads. Sheriff Chris Nanos has expressed frustration that a security camera at Nancy’s residence failed to capture vital footage due to a subscription lapse on the day of her presumed abduction.
The doorbell camera was disconnected abruptly, preventing authorities from retrieving any images that could provide clues to her disappearance. Investigators did find blood on the porch, which matched Nancy’s DNA, heightening concerns about her well-being.
It’s concerning, it’s actually almost disappointing because you’ve got your hopes up, Nanos shared. OK, they got an image. 'Well, we do, but we don’t.' Authorities suspect Nancy may have been taken from her home just outside Tucson over the weekend, but no suspects have been identified.
Amid growing anxiety for her health—Nancy reportedly has significant medical needs, including a pacemaker—the sheriff's office continues to appeal for any information that could help locate her. Recent communications hint at possible ransom demands, but no updates have indicated a resolution.
In an emotional plea, Savannah and her siblings released a video asking for their mother's kidnapper to come forward, stating they are ready to negotiate but need proof that she is alive. The incident has not only captured the local community's attention but also drawn responses from high-profile figures including President Trump, prompting federal involvement in the investigation.
The time is critical, and it’s breaking my heart for Savannah and her family, Attorney General Pam Bondi stated. Investigators remain committed to retrieving potential video evidence, hoping technology might still yield results as the search continues.
