Swedish Man Charged with War Crimes in 2015 Killing of Jordanian Pilot
A Swedish citizen faces trial for his alleged part in the brutal execution of a Jordanian pilot by ISIS.
A Swedish national, Osama Krayem, aged 32, has been charged with war and terrorism crimes linked to the 2015 killing of Jordanian pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh in Syria. Currently imprisoned for his involvement in terror attacks in Paris and Brussels, Krayem is set to stand trial on June 4. Swedish prosecutors allege he participated in the execution of Lt. Kasasbeh after the pilot's capture in December 2014, detailing how they forced him into a metal cage that was subsequently set on fire. Krayem, originally from Malmö, had moved to Syria to join ISIS in 2014. His current charges come in the wake of his earlier convictions, including a 30-year sentence for his roles in major terrorist attacks in Europe.
