Emergency services responded at Hilton’s Miami home after viewers reported alarming behaviour during the livestream. The Miami sheriff’s office confirmed that a man was "livestreaming acts of self‑harm" and that he was alone while the situation unfolded.
On his website, Hilton’s family posted a statement saying he had experienced significant blood loss and that his treatment and recovery would be a long process. He is now being held under Florida’s Baker Act, which provides services for people in a mental‑health crisis.

TikTok’s automated systems flagged the livestream within minutes and forwarded it to a U.S. moderation team. A moderator error caused a delay in removing the stream, but the company alerted law enforcement, closed several subsequent streams within 90 seconds, and banned Hilton’s account.
