Norway has opened an investigation into diplomat Mona Juul and her husband due to their connections to the late Jeffrey Epstein. Juul, who recently resigned as Norway's ambassador to Jordan and Iraq, faced scrutiny after media reports emerged that each of her children stood to receive $5 million from a will purportedly signed by Epstein shortly before his death.

Mona Juul’s spouse, Terje Rød-Larsen, reportedly dined with Epstein in Paris just weeks prior to Epstein’s arrest on sex trafficking charges. Her lawyer has stated that Juul does not recognize the accusations against her, while Rød-Larsen’s representative expressed confidence that the investigation will exonerate him of any criminal liability.

Officials from Norway's foreign ministry have categorized Juul's connection to Epstein as a serious lapse in judgment. Police have indicated that the inquiry includes investigating potential benefits received by Juul in relation to her diplomatic position. An affiliated property in Oslo has already been searched as part of the investigation.

The wider context involves numerous prominent figures from Norway facing scrutiny in connection with Epstein's ongoing scandal. This includes notable personalities such as Crown Princess Mette-Marit and former Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland, both of whom have also been linked to Epstein through their communications or associations.

In light of the hashtag #MeToo reigniting interest in Epstein's case following the release of his documents by the US Department of Justice, this investigation may only be the beginning in revealing a broader network associated with the disgraced financier.
