Philadelphia Police are on the lookout for a suspect who terrorised residents wearing a creepy doll mask, according to a statement released Tuesday.
The masked man chased, threatened and even told a runner "ready to die" as footage captured him near City Hall on 12 August. Surveillance shows him holding a phone, apparently filming the events. Police say he may be complicit in a social media trend or a more dangerous act.
Authorities have posted photos and a video, asking the public to identify the suspect. He could face charges of terroristic threat, simple assault and other offences.
One survivor, Luanda Marinho, recalled the man asking if she would race him and then advancing a dangerous game that left her stumbling and injured. Residents are considering changing their running routes to avoid a similar encounter.
The police are urging anyone who saw the suspect or has information to contact their local precinct. More updates to follow as the investigation proceeds.
