An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer has shot a man in the leg in Minneapolis, shortly after another ICE officer shot and killed a woman in the same city. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), federal officers were pursuing the man due to allegations of illegal entry into the U.S. from Venezuela.

The man was shot and taken to the hospital, where his injuries were reported as non-life threatening. An ICE officer also sustained injuries during the incident and was hospitalized.

In a statement, city officials acknowledged the public's frustration and called for calm. However, they also pressed for ICE to vacate the city. Witness accounts suggest the shooting occurred after the man exited his vehicle and engaged with the ICE official. Two additional individuals reportedly attacked the officer, prompting the use of defensive gunfire.

Mayor Jacob Frey condemned the federal actions as 'chaotic,' as protests erupted at the shooting location, with demonstrators opposing ICE operations and calling for change.

Last week's incident, where 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was shot dead by an ICE agent, further inflamed public sentiment against federal officers. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara has confirmed that the FBI is investigating both incidents, while state leaders express growing frustration with ICE's operations in Minnesota.

According to reports, around 3,000 ICE officers have been deployed to Minnesota recently, leading to heightened tensions. Governor Tim Walz has urged federal authorities to cease their operations, expressing his outrage in a social media video.
