An autopsy into the death of French streamer Raphaël Graven, popularly known as Jean Pormanove, has revealed that the cause was not due to trauma. The prosecutor overseeing the case informed that the 46-year-old content creator, who streamed live on the Kick platform, was discovered deceased at his residence in Contes, a village located north of Nice, earlier this week.
French government minister Clara Chappaz expressed profound concern over the incident, dubbing it an "absolute horror," and subsequently initiated a judicial investigation into the circumstances of Graven's passing. Prosecutor Damien Martinelli announced on Thursday that medical examiners ruled out trauma as a cause of death, clarifying that there was no evidence of any "internal or external traumatic injuries" or burns — only a few bruises and previously healed lesions.
According to Martinelli, the likely causes of death seem to be rooted in medical and/or toxicological factors, which led to further testing. It was also mentioned that Graven might have been dealing with heart-related issues and had received treatment for a thyroid condition. A representative for Kick revealed that the platform is currently undertaking a review of the circumstances leading to his death.
Reports from local media indicated that Graven had been experiencing episodes of violence and sleep deprivation during his streams, ultimately passing away during a live broadcast. On Wednesday, police reported that several individuals who were present during the incident had been interviewed. Equipment and videos have been confiscated as part of the investigation to uncover any events leading up to his death that may have played a role in the tragedy.
