Police say that at least three people have been killed and 15 injured when a blast ripped through a Moscow restaurant. The explosion, which occurred around 20:00 local time (17:00 GMT), happened on Kudrinskaya square near the city centre. Witnesses report that the kitchen of the venue – which was hosting a wedding reception – was the site of the blast. Heavy‑armed law enforcement officers surrounded the site and footage released by RIA showed the scene closed off to the public. Roads around the square were temporarily closed and a nearby cycling gathering was cancelled.
