Boat Capsizes Near Northern Cyprus, 270 Passengers on Board

A passenger boat with about 270 people on board has capsized about four miles off the coast of Kyrenia, Cyprus. Search and rescue teams are on the scene, and local media are reporting the incident.


Murat Senkul, the mayor of Kyrenia, told CNN Turk that 159 of those aboard had been reached. "The situation is very serious," he said.


Emergency crews are working around the clock to locate survivors and secure the area. A formal update will be posted as more details become available.
