Blake Lively Refers to Justin Baldoni as 'Clown' in Unsealed Court Messages
Blake Lively referred to Justin Baldoni as a doofus director and a clown, according to newly unsealed court documents from the actress's legal case.
The pair starred together in It Ends With Us, but Lively sued Baldoni in December 2024, accusing him of sexual harassment and waging a smear campaign against her. Baldoni strongly denies the claims and is defending the lawsuit.
Text messages from 2023 between Lively and people close to her reveal Lively called Baldoni a rabid pig, while her friend Taylor Swift humorously suggested Baldoni knew about the lawsuit because he's gotten out his tiny violin.
Baldoni's $400 million counter-suit was dismissed by a judge last June. Neither has yet responded to the BBC's request for comment.
Lively's case is set to go to trial in May. The recently unsealed documents show both Lively and Baldoni expressing frustration over filming It Ends With Us and the subsequent press tour ahead of the film's release in August 2024.
Lively described Baldoni as this doofus director of my movie and asserted that he thinks he's a writer now. Her legal team acknowledged the use of such language but insisted that the messages were taken out of context.
The documents highlight tension on the set. Lively expressed her distress, stating, Today I came home and cried after a difficult visit to set. This was echoed by co-star Jenny Slate, who reported a hostile working environment.
In response, Baldoni expressed fear in private communications that Lively would leverage the allegations against him to harm his reputation and promote her own interests regarding the film.
The legal saga continues as both parties prepare for an upcoming hearing, with many eyes focused on the outcome of Lively's claims and Baldoni's countersuit.
