Crown Princess's Son Faces Serious Charges of Rape and Abuse
The eldest son of Norway's Crown Princess is embroiled in legal trouble with multiple charges, including rape and domestic abuse.
Marius Borg Høiby, 28, has been charged with a total of 32 offences, including four counts of rape and violations of protection orders against former partners. Born from a relationship before Crown Princess Mette-Marit married Crown Prince Haakon, Høiby denies the most serious allegations but intends to plead guilty to lesser charges. He could be sentenced to 10 years if found guilty of the major accusations. The rapes are alleged to have occurred during a span from 2018 to 2024, with instances of filming women without consent also included in the charges. Following his August 2022 arrest, he has faced legal scrutiny, leading to three subsequent arrests throughout the year. With the trial possibly commencing in January, it is projected to last around six weeks.
