Myanmar’s Department of Fisheries announced on Tuesday that the country exported just over 200,000 tonnes of fishery products in the first seven months of fiscal 2026‑27, earning more than $343 million.
According to Xinhua, the export volume totaled 200,080 tonnes, a figure that represents a decline from the same period the previous fiscal year when Myanmar shipped 234,107 tonnes of fishery products.
The Department noted that Myanmar markets its fishery products to about 40 countries and regions, with the bulk of those shipments destined for China, Thailand, the Middle East and Europe.
Xinhua is the sole outlet reporting the specific export figures and earnings for the current fiscal period, according to the Department’s press release.
These numbers reflect the ongoing challenges faced by Myanmar’s fishing industry amid fluctuating global seafood demand and domestic supply constraints.
