In Sofia, Bulgaria’s state‑owned Heli Med Service announced that it had carried out 237 air‑ambulance missions since the beginning of 2026, a figure that includes 33 operations in October.
The cumulative tally reflects steady growth of the company’s emergency medical services, the company said in a Facebook post, noting that the increase signifies the consolidation of its public‑service role.
The 33 missions in October alone underscore the company's continuous operational activity, the company added.
At present, Heli Med Service operates eight helicopters and has expanded its operational bases from one in 2025 to two in 2026.
“We plan to double the number of bases to four by the end of the year,” the company said, signalling further expansion of its capabilities.
Founded to provide helicopter emergency medical services across Bulgaria, the state‑owned joint‑stock company has become an important aviation operator within the national healthcare system.
