A 19‑year‑old Australian woman was killed in hospital Thursday after a drive‑by shooting outside a boxing event 28 km south‑east of Brisbane on Saturday night. Queensland Police Service Detective Inspector Ian Galpin confirmed the victim died from a neck and head gunshot wound and that the incident is now a homicide investigation.
ABC News identified the victim as Vana‑Reese Schuster‑Togiatau, a 19‑year‑old resident of Jimboomba, noting she was shot in the neck and head at Fitzys Loganholme on Saturday night.
Queensland Police said around 80 detectives were assigned to the case and had not ruled out gang involvement.
Three other men, aged 27, 37 and 38, were taken to hospital after sustaining injuries during the shooting; two of them have since been discharged, sources said.
Nine.com.au reported the shooting occurred outside a Logan pub and that Schuster‑Togiatau was believed to have been an innocent bystander.
