According to Xinhua, ten elderly tourists were injured in a minivan rollover on King Island, Tasmania, on Friday afternoon.

The incident took place on South Road in Pearshape, the southern part of the island, at about 4:20 p.m. local time, the police statement said.

The Toyota HiAce passenger van was carrying ten visitors from mainland Australia, all in their mid‑seventies to their eighties.

Three of the injured were flown to hospitals in Melbourne on Friday night, while five more were later transferred to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The remaining four were discharged after treatment at a local hospital.

Initial investigations suggest the van failed to negotiate a bend, lost traction on loose gravel, went down an embankment, rolled over, and then landed back on its wheels.
