In brief

Sixteen individuals are still missing following a tourist boat capsizing incident in the Red Sea, according to Egyptian authorities. The boat, the Sea Story, encountered a large wave during a diving trip and sank early Monday morning, leading to a search operation for possible survivors.

On Tuesday morning, authorities reported that 28 people, including tourists from various countries, were rescued shortly after the accident. Reports indicate that the boat, which departed Marsa Alam for a six-day tour, was packed with 44 passengers, consisting of 31 foreign visitors and 13 Egyptians. Currently, the search and rescue efforts continue as the hope for survivors persists. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority had warned of dangerous conditions prior to the sinking, and an investigation has been launched into the incident, given that the boat had passed safety inspections earlier this year.
