Russia and Ukraine announced on Saturday that they will hold regular humanitarian missions in Oleshky, a town in the Kherson region, after completing a joint operation, said Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova, a statement released by Xinhua.

The agreement aims to provide continued aid to civilians in Oleshky amid the ongoing conflict, Lantratova said. It follows a joint humanitarian operation that was reported to have finished the day before the announcement.

Oleshky lies in the Kherson region of southern Russia, an area that has seen significant fighting and civilian hardship. The new pact, according to Xinhua, is designed to streamline the delivery of supplies such as food, medicine and basic necessities to residents in the town.

Both sides stated that the missions will be conducted regularly, with coordination between Russian and Ukrainian authorities. Lantratova’s statement indicated that both governments feel the need to ensure that aid reaches the population in a secure and predictable manner.
