During a press briefing, Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims confirmed they had arrested a "53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area," who is believed to be the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision.
In total, 47 people suffered injuries in the incident; 27 were taken to hospitals with serious cases involving two individuals, including one child. Many others received on-scene treatment for minor injuries, and a paramedic was also struck but avoided severe harm.
