A Kremlin aide has warned that Britain and NATO may already be planning sabotage operations against tankers carrying Russian diesel, particularly those linked to a US–Russia fuel deal that the UK disapproved of. The allegations were made by Nikolay Patrushev, chairman of the Russian Maritime Board, in an interview published by TASS.
Patrushev said that the United Kingdom and NATO “may already be preparing acts of sabotage against vessels that carry Russian diesel” and that sabotage would be “skillfully organized.” He added that Moscow is closely observing the risk and accused Europeans of being trapped by sanctions and russophobia.
The aide noted that the UK does not approve of the Russia–US diesel fuel deal and that sabotage would target that transaction. He also cited a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US President Donald Trump on October 9, during which the two leaders discussed petroleum product supplies.
The claim was also reported by Ground News, which said that Britain and a number of other NATO countries may be preparing sabotage operations against Russian diesel tankers, quoting Patrushev’s statements.
