The avalanche struck a camp of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in Mana, a remote area bordering Tibet, according to officials. An official from the local police, IG Nilesh Anand Bharne, stated that 16 individuals had already been rescued and are currently undergoing treatment at an army facility. As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of fatalities, although the extent of injuries among the rescued remains unclear.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed via X that rescue efforts are ongoing, involving the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and other emergency teams. However, the harsh weather has made operations difficult, with ongoing rain and snowfall in the region. Colonel Ankur Mahajan, a BRO commander, revealed that the rescued individuals are receiving medical attention, but details on their conditions are sparse.
