BTA reports the Education and Science Ministry will hold its 18th annual Pythagoras Science Contribution Awards on Thursday at Sofia’s Central Military Club. The ceremony is slated to be opened by Minister Georgi Valchev, with Prime Minister Rumen Radev invited to attend.
BTA notes that the competition, now in its 18th year, recognizes outstanding contributions across natural sciences, engineering, medicine, and humanities, and will award a grand prize for overall contribution to science. In addition, a special award for science communication will be presented.
BTA recalls that last year’s ceremony, held at the National History Museum on 14 October 2025, featured 52 scientists competing in eight categories. The grand prize that year went to Prof. Radostina Stoyanova of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry.
