In brief

Flower Research’s computer‑assisted telephone interview (CATI) poll puts Lee Jae Myung’s disapproval at 53.8% and approval at 45.6%. An automated response system (ARS) survey reports an even larger gap, with disapproval at 59.7% and approval at 39.4%. Both ruling and opposition parties see falling support, tightening a race for public backing.

A recent poll conducted by Flower Research shows that disapproval of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung’s administration far exceeds approval, with 53.8% of respondents expressing disapproval versus 45.6% approval.

In addition, an automated response system (ARS) survey revealed a broader split: only 39.4% approved of the president while 59.7% disapproved, widening the gap to 20.3 percentage points.

Both the ruling democratic and the opposition people power parties are slipping, tightening the race for public backing. The CATI results put the Democratic Party at 41.2% support, a fall of 0.7 percentage points from the prior week, while the People Power Party slipped 0.9 points to 35.8%. In the ARS poll, the Democratic Party dropped 1.6 percentage points to 38.1%, whereas the People Power Party remained unchanged at 41.9%.

Only Xinhua reports the ARS details, while the Big News Network confirms the CATI figures but omits the ARS data.

Overall, the data suggest a tightening political climate in South Korea, with President Lee’s administration facing a larger share of criticism than support across both major polling methods.
