In brief
At just 20 years old, Isidora Uribe Silva has transformed her painful experiences with discrimination into a powerful advocacy platform, promoting inclusive policies and greater accessibility for marginalized communities. Through initiatives like the "Encuentra Tu Lugar" app and her involvement with U.N. Women, she strives to make the world a more equitable place for women and people with disabilities.
Isidora Uribe Silva's journey began at age 12 when she first faced discrimination due to her cerebral palsy. Transitioning to a new school, she was met with bullying from classmates and a lack of support from her teachers, leading her to leave the school for seven months. Eventually, she found a more welcoming environment at Institución Teresiana in Santiago, which provided a supportive space for her education and personal growth. Now 20, Uribe Silva is a law student at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and an advocate for inclusive policies across the globe, particularly for women with disabilities. At 13, she developed "Encuentra Tu Lugar" (Find Your Place), an app designed to help disabled individuals locate accessible parking in Chile. Her commitment to this cause extended beyond technology; she founded a foundation under the same name to further promote accessibility.Isidora currently serves on the Generation Equality Adolescent Committee of U.N. Women and is a member of the newly formed U.N. Women Leaders Network, which aims to enhance women's participation in leadership roles. Through her advocacy and personal endeavors, she is actively working towards enhancing equality and giving a voice to marginalized groups worldwide.
