French authorities are questioning a man believed to be connected to the mystery surrounding four bodies discovered in the River Seine, close to Paris. The grim find began on August 13, when a passer-by reported sighting the first victim near a bridge in Choisy-le-Roi, a suburb southeast of the city center. During police investigations conducted later the same day, three additional bodies were retrieved from the river nearby.
According to prosecutors, one of the deceased had signs of strangulation, and another exhibited severe violent injuries. The suspect, currently detained in Paris, has not yet been identified, and law enforcement officials have refrained from revealing how many murder cases he may be involved with.
Prosecutors confirmed that the first body was recognizable and belonged to a 40-year-old resident of the area, indicating it had only been in the water for a short duration. Conversely, the remaining three bodies were described as being in an advanced state of decomposition, making identification challenging.
Authorities have stated there is no immediate evidence connecting the victims, suggesting they may have been submerged separately upstream and later carried downstream by currents to the location near the Choisy bridge. The investigation continues as police explore the circumstances surrounding these tragic discoveries.
