In a bold move, music icon Smokey Robinson has initiated a staggering $500 million defamation lawsuit against four former housekeepers who have alleged that he sexually assaulted them. The couple's lawsuit, filed in California on Wednesday, claims the accusations are "false and extremely damaging," suggesting they are part of an "extortionate" ploy by the women.

Robinson, along with his wife Frances, argues that the alleged victims, who filed their cases anonymously, previously spent time on family vacations with the couple, demonstrating a seemingly amicable relationship. The singer, currently facing a criminal investigation in Los Angeles over the allegations, firmly denies any wrongdoing, with his attorney stating that the accusations are financially motivated.

The legal team representing Mr. Robinson has also requested the court to dismiss the women's lawsuit, arguing that their anonymity should not have been permitted. The lawsuit asserts, "The Robinsons did not abuse, harm, or take advantage of plaintiffs; they treated plaintiffs with the utmost kindness and generosity."

The women involved in the case, identified only as Jane Doe 1, 2, 3, and 4, filed their lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on May 6. In their 27-page complaint, they describe several incidents of alleged sexual pressure dating back to 2006. According to their statements, fear of losing their jobs, concern for familial repercussions, and potential immigration issues delayed their decision to come forward.

They seek a minimum of $50 million in damages and are requesting a jury trial. Following their allegations, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department opened an investigation into the matter. Robinson has expressed that he welcomes this inquiry, as "exposure to the truth is a powerful thing."

As a celebrated figure in music history, Smokey Robinson is noted as one of Motown's first key songwriters and hitmakers, credited with timeless classics like "My Guy" and "My Girl." His illustrious career has earned him places in both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, distinguishing him as a talent scout and prolific artist with credits on over 4,000 songs.
