Chris Brown, the US singer known for his hit songs, has been formally charged by the Metropolitan Police with grievous bodily harm with intent. This charge relates to an incident that reportedly occurred at a nightclub in central London on February 19, 2023. Brown, aged 36, was arrested at a Manchester hotel during the early hours on Thursday and is currently being held in custody. He is slated to appear before the Manchester Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Adele Kelly, the deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS London North, confirmed the charge, stating, "We have authorized the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown with one count of grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861." She emphasized that "criminal proceedings against this defendant are active" and affirmed his right to a fair trial.

According to reports, the R&B artist arrived in Manchester on a private jet on Wednesday afternoon. Despite the ongoing legal issues, Chris Brown is currently on tour and has several performances scheduled across the UK in June and July.
