UK Faces New Space Arms Race as RAF Warns about Satellite Threat
Britain’s Royal Air Force chief Sir Chris Skelton has warned that the UK now faces an unprecedented threat to the satellites that underpin the nation’s communications, internet, banking and navigation.
A defence source told BBC defence correspondent Jonathan Beale that Britain has already deployed a ground‑based system to jam or block the satellite communications of a hostile state, indicating that the space frontier is turning into a new battleground.
According to Beale, this marks the onset of a new arms race in space, raising concerns over the security of critical satellite infrastructure and the potential for destabilising future space operations.
