Four children have been 'brutally stabbed and killed' at a school in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, the police have said. A 34-year-old suspect has been detained, but 'the motive behind the killings is still under investigation', Uganda's police force added in a brief statement on X. The school has been named as the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program School in the capital's Makindye Division. Crime scene investigators are currently at the scene, and a police spokesperson has indicated that more details will follow. Senior officers, including Police Chief Abas Byakagaba, have visited the school to get updated information on the tragedy. According to local residents quoted by Uganda's Daily Monitor, the suspect allegedly disguised himself as a parent to enter the school and proceeded to attack the children after speaking with the administrator. The victims were reportedly aged between two and three years. Videos circulating on social media depict angry crowds gathered in distress. Reports suggest that the suspect was quickly apprehended to prevent him from being lynched by outraged locals.
