HOUSTON (FlashPoint) — A tornado caused extensive damage to more than 100 homes in a residential area just outside Houston, Texas, authorities reported on Monday. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the event. Images and drone footage shared on social media platforms show roofs with shingles ripped off and various debris blocking local roads. The damage primarily affected the Memorial Northwest neighborhood, according to Harris County Precinct 4's constable, Mark Herman.
In response to the damage, the Houston Fire Department deployed a team to remove downed trees and clear hazardous debris from the area. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for southeastern Texas, including Houston, lasting until 1 a.m. Tuesday, along with warnings for severe thunderstorms. Emergency services remain vigilant as they handle the repercussions of the storm.
