Tornado Devastates Southern France Villages, Over 40 Injured

A powerful tornado tore through villages in southern France, causing extensive property damage, power outages and at least 40 injuries.

Eyewitnesses in the village of Verzeille observed the tornado forming under a thunderstorm, with winds that blew past 100 km/h (62 mph). The violence left roofs ripped off in towns such as Pomas.

Local authorities report that about 2,800 households remain without electricity at Monday evening, and several roads are blocked, complicating rescue operations.

The incident highlights a growing trend in more frequent severe weather events across Europe, prompting calls for better emergency preparedness.
