\Andrew and Tristan Tate have appeared in a Miami federal court to start extradition proceedings to the United Kingdom. The pairs are facing 59 alleged UK offences, including rape and sex‑trafficking, under a new charge sheet from the Crown Prosecution Service.
\Both brothers were arrested on Saturday and kept in a Florida jail while their lawyer, Joe McBride, prepared the extradition motion. He told reporters that the men were innocent, calling the charges a witch hunt and a political kidnapping.
\The indictments cover alleged crimes from July 2010 to August 2017. The Crown also noted a new evidence file from Bedfordshire Police that brings the total number of alleged victims to seven. The brothers are dual British‑U.S. citizens who entered the U.S. in 2025 after Romania lifted its travel ban on them.
\In addition to the UK charges, Andrew Tate faces criminal claims in Romania for alleged human trafficking and the formation of an organised group to exploit women, while he is also accused of rape in that jurisdiction. A civil suit in the U.S. accuses them of coercing a woman into sex work and defaming her after she cooperated with Romanian investigators.
\The brothers are known for their viral social‑media posts that boast extreme wealth and hyper‑masculinity. They were banned from platforms in 2022 after comments about women “bearing responsibility” for sexual assault, though their bans were later reversed.
\Judge Samuel H. Smith set the next hearing for 27 July. While the judge can order the extradition, the final decision rests with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Trump administration, which may take up to 60 days according to the brother’s counsel.
