KYIV, Ukraine (FlashPoint) — On Monday, senior officials from Ukraine hosted a group of 60 foreign diplomats in Kyiv, providing a harrowing tour of the destruction left by a record Russian aerial assault the day before. This marked the largest drone attack since the onset of the all-out invasion over three years ago. The brutal assault on Kyiv involved over 800 drones and decoys, claiming at least four lives as it targeted residential and government structures.

The attack also bears political significance, coming amidst stalled U.S.-led peace negotiations with Moscow. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, speaking during the visit, described the drone strikes as a demonstration that Russia is ‘mocking the diplomatic efforts of the civilized world.’

Among the sites affected was Kyiv’s prominent government building, a venerable structure hit for the first time in the ongoing conflict. On the ground, officials guided the diplomats through burnt offices, shattered windows, and debris-littered hallways, illustrating the stark realities of the ongoing war.

As the situation unfolds, international leaders are increasingly urging the U.S. to implement tougher economic sanctions against Russia to mitigate further assaults and support Ukraine's defense efforts.
