Lebanese President Joseph Aoun warned that the strikes represent a dangerous escalation, jeopardising the US‑brokered ceasefire that was established in June to end hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. The retaliation follows recent drone attacks attributed to Hezbollah on Israeli troops stationed in occupied territories.
The incident follows a pattern of escalating violence, as Israeli forces intensified strikes across southern Lebanon. Previously, the same week, seven people died in a separate airstrike, underscoring the volatility of the area.
