In a surprising move, Ugandan General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has reactivated his X account shortly after resigning from the platform to concentrate on military obligations. Proclaiming "I'm back!" on his verified handle @mkainerugaba, he quickly captured the attention of a growing audience with bold, incendiary posts aimed at altering the political landscape.

The 50-year-old general, known for his military lineage as the son of President Yoweri Museveni, has been stirring controversies with comments that breach military decorum, reinforcing speculation about his aspirations to take over leadership from his father, who has been in power since 1986. Critics have lambasted Kainerugaba for incendiary remarks that challenge the status quo, particularly his recent threats directed at opposition leader Bobi Wine.

Upon announcing his renewed presence on X, General Kainerugaba issued a provocative decree for security forces to detain any opposition members donning attire reminiscent of military uniforms. He amplified the severity of this mandate, stating that those who disregard this order would face serious consequences.

In a further escalation, he threatened to deport a US diplomat over alleged disrespect towards his position. Kainerugaba provocatively questioned the BBC's reporting on his resignation, heightening tensions surrounding his online persona. This marks the second occasion he has left and returned to X in three years, having previously made controversial remarks that led to diplomatic backtracking after threatening military actions against Kenya.

His recent expressions, particularly the shocking threat to "behead" Bobi Wine, triggered immediate backlash, although Kainerugaba later labeled his statements as humor. Despite his subsequent apology, the opposition leader asserts that such threats are not to be dismissed lightly. The Ugandan government's stance appeared dismissive, with officials suggesting that Kainerugaba's pronouncements were merely casual and not reflective of state policy.

Kainerugaba is often viewed as the presumed successor to the presidency, a notion the current president has disputed. His social media activities have accumulated a modest following, reducing considerably from over one million previously. In a move to restore his online presence, he beseeched his supporters to return to his account, exclaiming, "Bring them all back!"
