Five people lost their lives when a Boeing 767 cargo aircraft operated by 21 Air overran the runway at Miami International Airport. The flight was coming from Puerto Rico and struck vehicles on the tarmac.

Emergency crews arrived within minutes, extinguishing flames while the aircraft continued to leak fuel. The crash rooted the plane at the northwest end of the runway.

Miami‑Dade officials reported five injured in critical condition and all victims were transported to hospitals. The mayor emphasised focus on families and the ongoing response.

Amazon said it is collaborating with authorities and expressed deep sympathy. The company added it will fully cooperate with the investigation.

The FAA has grounded all flights while the National Transportation Safety Board is analysing the accident. The incident occurred over Labor Day weekend, a busy travel period for the region.

Wind gusts and light thunderstorms were present at the time of the incident. The aircraft was travelling about 112 knots as it left the usable runway.
