Thirteen people were injured, with four requiring hospitalization, after a car plowed into fans outside the stadium during the Espanyol-Barcelona derby match on Thursday, which saw Barcelona secure the La Liga title with a 2-0 win. Although the match was temporarily delayed while the police informed the referee about the situation, no severe injuries were reported.

Authorities indicated that the driver was arrested on charges of dangerous driving and inflicting injuries. Videos circulating on social media revealed that the car, which had stopped near garbage bins, accelerated into the crowd of fans. Catalonia's government president, Salvador Illa, confirmed the incident was an accident, noting that while some sustained injuries, they were not severe, and emphasized that there was no ongoing threat to those inside the stadium.

Emergency services dispatched ten ambulances to assist at the scene, where the most significant injury documented was a broken leg. The incident unfolded as fans of Espanyol gathered to greet the team's coach ahead of the match.
