Military Veteran Captured Following Deadly Bar Shooting in Montana

Authorities apprehend Michael Paul Brown, a military veteran, after a week-long manhunt connected to a tragic shooting incident.

A military veteran, Michael Paul Brown, has been arrested after allegedly killing four individuals in a Montana bar shooting last week. The incident took place on August 1 at the Owl Bar in Anaconda, where Brown reportedly opened fire shortly after entering. Following the shooting, a hunt involving local, state, and federal authorities commenced to locate the suspect, who was found in nearby foothills. Officials noted he had shed his clothing during his escape. Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen expressed pride in the law enforcement efforts leading to Brown's arrest. Bar owner David Gwerder described Brown as someone who "knew everybody in the bar" and suspected he simply "snapped." The victims included barmaid Nancy Kelley and three patrons, aged 59 to 74. Brown served in the US Army between 2001 and 2005, during which he was deployed to Iraq. After the attack, his getaway vehicle was discovered, but it took several days to locate the suspect. Investigators released images of Brown fleeing the scene, prompting community assistance in tracking him down.
